Samsung blocked from selling Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia

Australians wanting to buy Samsung's new Galaxy Tab 10.1 inch will have to wait or buy the Android tablet elsewhere. This is a result of a court injunction won by Apple against Samsung. This means Samsung can't sell the tablet “until [Samsung] wins court approval or the lawsuit is resolved,” according to a report by Bloomberg.

In the report, Steven Burley, Apple's lawyer for the lawsuit in Australia, argued before the court that the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringed on at least 10 Apple patents, most noticeable of which is the gadget's touchscreen technology.

Apple and Samsung have been trading lawsuits these past few monts. Most notably, Apple has gone after Samsung for allegedly copying designs and technologies used in iPhones and the iPad tablet.

Of all the competing Android tablets, Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 does bear the biggest similarity in thinness and fit and finish to the iPad 2 although the Tab is slightly thinner and lighter and has different screen dimensions to the iPad 2.

Canadian launch for the Samsung Galaxy Tab is slated for August 19th.
