Sony Canada is holding an even this morning in Cherry Beach, Toronto. One of the big models revealed is the NEX 7 which boasts a 24 megapixel sensor, an OLED viewfinder and fast focus features as well as full manual controls and access to the growing E-mount system. Designed for DSLR users, it will sell for $1200 in october, but that is for the body only.

They only had one (1) demo unit of the NEX 7 during the event and we did not get a chance to test it out. We did get to play with the NEX 5N which is the more down-to-earth sibling ($700 body only and coming in October).

The NEX 5N may not be a replacement for a DSLR but our first impression is that it is indeed a fine camera specially when used with the stunning 24mm f/1.7 Carl Zeiss lens which enabled us to take tack-sharp photos of various dancers during the event.

Sony also revelaled new and upcoming lenses for its Alpha and NEX line of cameras and overall looks to have strengthened its portfolio of imaging products which should do well in an expanding market for high performance mirrorless cameras.
