Sony launches Xperia U Gingerbread smartphone

Sony Mobile Communications today announced the Xperia U  is now available to music-loving Canadians looking to express their personal style with a powerful and compact smartphone.

Available for $30 on select 2-year Fido Agreements, the Xperia U is a smartphone designed to reflect a consumer’s unique personality.  At the base of the Xperia U is a transparent element that illuminates depending on the colour theme you have chosen. By clicking on the gallery application the transparent element will change to match the colour of photos viewed in the gallery or the cover art of music tracks playing on the smartphone. The Xperia U can also be customized with exchangeable caps and themes to reflect consumers’ style and mood.

Being able to listen to your favourite music anywhere and connect to premium entertainment is a key part of the Xperia U experience. Out of the box, users can listen to millions of songs** through Sony Entertainment Network’s Music Unlimited service, or watch their favourite Hollywood blockbusters and TV shows with the Video Unlimited* service.  Users can try the Music Unlimited service free for 30 days with the premium service.

With xLOUD and Sony 3D surround sound audio technology integrated into the music player, music lovers can enjoy their own tunes in crisp quality and enhanced sound. They can also easily stream music from their Xperia U to wireless speakers using DLNA™.
