Standard YouTube App to be dropped from iOS 6

Looks like the YouTube video App that's been one of the stock applications on all iOS devices will no longer be included as a default app in the next revision of Apple's iOS.

Apple has already replaced the Google Maps app with their own application and now the YouTube app is gone as well. Google is expected to make available a standalone version of YouTube that iOS users will need to download on their devices.

While the Maps app replacement was revealed back in WWDC 2012, the removal of the YouTube app (which was developed by Apple and not Google) came to light recently when the latest beta version of iOS 6 was made available to developers. Below is Apple's statement on the matter.

Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.

Could this be a sign of the deteriorating relationship between Apple and Google? Will Google Search be the next default feature to be affected? Looks like iOS 6 will really be a big update where less is more.
