Kijiji Canada launches sub-site for iPhone 5

Kijiji, Canada’s popular free, local, online classifieds website, has launched a new landing page devoted to all things iPhone for  Apple fanatics making space in their pockets and purses for the new iPhone 5. A good place for users to sell their old devices to fund the new iPhone 5 which starts at $699 unlocked. Kijiji is a subsidiary of eBay.

The new iPhone sub-site (http://info.kijiji.ca/iphone5/) helps Canadians prepare for the much anticipated iPhone launch by offering a dedicated space to list Apple devices and accessories, as well as compare previous models based on price, features and condition.

“Every time Apple releases a new product, people go crazy.” says Ted Kritsonis, technology guru. “Not only do they line up overnight to get the latest device, but they want to unload their existing devices right away. Kijiji is a great place to sell past models of iPhone just in time to pick up the new iPhone 5.”

Listings have already started to roll in on Kijiji.ca, as Canadians start to plan their future iPhone purchases later this month. There are currently over 19,500 iPhones available on Kijiji across Canada, with users in Toronto and Montreal leading the way in iPhone listings.

“According to our data, several Apple products are consistently among the most popular items on Kijiji,” said Bart Molenda, head of marketing, Kijiji Canada. “The use of online classifieds is steadily increasing as a free resource for Canadians to easily buy, sell and trade electronics locally.”

Many cell phones that are thrown away are still usable, so reselling is both financially and environmentally beneficial. And starting today, Kijiji will donate $1 to Evergreen for every iPhone sold within the first 60 days after the new iPhone launch. Kijiji will publish the total number of iPhones available on the site each week.

Fans of the iPhone 5 can also look for the Kijiji Krew on Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest in Montreal outside the Apple store. The team will be giving away swag and helping new iPhone 5 owners post ads for their previous models of iPhones and accessories on the new www.Kijiji.ca/iPhone page. Photos and video of all the iPhone 5 mayhem will be posted to Kijiji’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages.
