Columbia's "Millenium Blur" ski jacket is a 'must-have' for being winter active

This holiday season, while many of you are anxiously awaiting your flights out to a hotter climate, I am diving into the cold, unforgiving winter that is Blue Mountain, Collingwood, ON. And I couldn't be happier about it. You see, aside from packing all the fleece I possibly could into my duffle and wearing a cozy pair of Sorel boots (stay tuned for that write-up) my friends at Columbia sportswear hooked me up with the new "Millennium Blur" ski jacket to try out on the slopes.

Let's take a look at this gem and find out why it's a must-have for skiing, or other winter activities

What makes the Millenium Blur so special? It features:

  • Omni-Heat thermal reflective
  • Omni-Tech waterproof/breathable fully seam sealed
  • 4-way comfort stretch
  • Internal stretch panels
  • Removable, adjustable storm hood
  • Helmet compatible hood
  • Underarm venting
  • Waterproof zip-closed pocket
  • Drawcord adjustable hem
  • Removable, snap back powder skirt
  • Security pocket
  • Media and goggle pocket
  • Ski pass pocket
  • Adjustable outer cuff
  • Inner comfort cuff
  • Articulated elbows
  • Imported
Fabric:
  • Omni-Tech Shell
    86% nylon/14% elastane King Stretch
  • Omni-Heat Lining
    100% polyester Thermal Reflective Microtex
  • Omni-Heat Insulation
    50% polyester/50% recycled polyester OH, 80g

Wearability:

One might think ‘a jacket is a jacket, right’? Where I may have generally agreed with you prior to wearing this jacket in its element, my feelings have done a complete 180 since actually skiing in it and experiencing first-hand what it can actually do. This super lightweight, waterproof-breathable winter jacket is fully-loaded with features that will keep you dry, warm, agile and protected during physically demanding activities in challenging weather conditions. Combined with strategic interior stretch panels, the ultra soft 4-way stretch exterior allows for a full range of 'sexy flanders' moves on the slopes'; trust me, I did it several times myself.

Gone are the days of over-heating (or catching a chill), running out of pocket space, and generally feeling claustrophobic due tlo a lack of maneuverability. Columbia put a lot into the R&D behind their proprietary OMNI-HEAT thermal reflective Microtex liner. Akin to being wrapped in tinfoil, the lining ensures your body stays warm even in the coldest of conditions. Whereas, on the other hand, the OMNI-TECH outer-shell ensures that the snow stays out – even if you take a tumble or two!

Worth the high price-tag?

There are many things as consumers we can’t put a price tag on, one being our well-being and comfort.

Sometimes it’s worth it to spend a bit more on quality, as is the case with the Millennium Blur mens jacket. At $349.99 CA it’s priced to attract a high-end, more demanding clientele.
