HP's Envy Rove is a 20-inch all-in-one mobile desktop

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The scalability of Windows 8 in an all-in-one tablet form factor is being put to the test with HP's new Envy Rove. At first glance, this is another sleek all-in-one multi-touch desktop but the Rove can also be used flat on various surfaces and can be used untethered thanks  to a buil-in battery. The  HP Envy Rove comes to Canada in late July starting at $999.99.

Featuring a crisp600 x 900 IPS LED panel for wide viewing angles and built-in Beats Audio,  the HP Rove is powered by 4thgeneration Intel Core processors. HP sees various uses and applications for this PC including games with multiple users. There's also a push towards the education market.

“Customers are looking for mobility and flexibility in their computing devices to give families new ways to bring generations together,” said Ron Coughlin, senior vice-president and general manager, consumer PCs and consumer solutions for HP, in a statement. “HP is evolving to meet our customers’ needs by designing next-generation form factors, like the Rove mobile All-in-One PC, which will enable people to connect, share and create in ways they never imagined.”

The HP ENVY Rove20 can easily move from upright to completely horizontal for a tabletop entertainment experience. Using advanced multitouch technology, multiple users can interact with games and more at the same time. Multiplayer games such as Electronic Arts’ Monopoly™, Fingertapps™ JigsWar Puzzle, Fingertapps Musical Instruments, and nsquared makewords are an ease to play when the PC is laid flat.
