Moto X advert hints at something different from Google's in-house smartphone

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Everyone knows that Google bought Motorola for the patents, or did they? The much awaited Moto X superphone has long been rumoured and various leaks have revealed little. The past few weeks have seen some movement at the Google owned Motorola division. A new Google-ish logo appeared a week ago and more recently, a print ad for the Moto X smartphone. The text heavy ad, which shows no image (although the Moto X prototyle has been widely leaked -see above) there are a number of hints towards a different approach of phone-making.

The Moto X will be the first smartphone designed and manufactured in the USA in a long time. The ad also says that this is the first smartphone users can design themselves which is interesting since aside from colours and various material treatments, it is hard to imagine what sort of customization or what level of design users can be involved in.

Google is clearly promisng something different and new, let's see how this plays out for them and how their other partner smartphone manufacturers will react to the first product of Motorola and Google.

I'm not sure how Google will compete against Apple with this phone because the Moto X looks very bulky and has a design similar to Galaxy S3.
