Chitika: iPhone 5 adoption outpaced Galaxy S IV's as per mobile internet traffic

Chitika has revealed its findings that in the two months after launch, Apple's iPhone 5 generated 11% of iPhone web traffic in North America, compared with the Samsung Galaxy S IV's 6% of Samsung smartphone traffic, despite iPhone having a larger installed user base.

Chitika also says iOS North American web traffic is at 67% compared to Android's 33%. This is up from earlier this month when Chitika said iOS had 65% and Android had 35%.

To quantify this study, Chitika Insights examined tens of millions of U.S. and Canadian Apple and Samsung smartphone-based online ad impressions generated within the Chitika Ad Network. The date range of this study consisted of impressions cataloged during the first, fifth, and ninth weeks following the respective North American release dates of the Apple iPhone 5 (September 21, 2012) and Samsung Galaxy S IV (April 26, 2013). The below graph displays each phone’s post-launch Web traffic share as a function of total Web traffic generated by that individual manufacturer’s smartphone users. Check out the full report here.
