Motorola has shipped 6.5 million devices in Q1 of 2014

Motorola Mobility COO Rick Osterloh went on Twitter to disclose the company has shipped 6.5 million devices in Q1 of 2014. Big numbers, note that shipped doesn't necessarily mean sold so the actual profits earned by Moto smartphones is yet to be determined.

Moto X users have one of the most innovative Android devices which run as close to a pure Android experience and that always-on Touchless Control conduit to Google Now is unparalleled in the industry. Too bad that Rogers, the only Canadian carrier providing the Moto X, has apparently discontuned the model as it is no longer available as an option on their website.

The Moto G is one of the best value smartphones for emerging markets that punches above its weight class in performance and features. Motorola is expected to make a big splash with its Moto 360 smartwatch, currently the best looking device in that emerging category and there are various rumours of new models coming from the company as it becomes part of Lenovo's stable of products.
