IDS15 Report: CUBITAT's Plug-and-Play Home for the Future

The Interior Design Show (IDS) in Toronto begins today and runs through the weekend at the Metro Convention Centre (January 22-25) and a few exhibitors are my radar.

CUBITAT is one exhibitor that is truly inspiring and worth checking out. The Toronto based developers, Urban Capital (founded by David Wex and Mark Reeve) are renknowned for their innovative SmartHouse micro condos and architecturally striking River City - just two of their critically-acclaimed, "out of the box" projects. Now, they've climbed their way back "into the box" so that the inside is exactly where you'd most want to be. Inside the cube, actually.

Urban Capital is revealing this latest inspiration "Cubitat" at IDS15 -- a collaboration with Venice and Stockholm-based design firm Nichetto Studios. It's a fully integrated concept and the future of progressive housing.

Imagine a 10' x 10' x 10 prefabricated cube containing the core elements of your home jig-sawed to your specifications. Every custom detail designed by you personally online with all kinds of small consumer items and perfectly compact. The kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room contained and then imagine being able to transport your home anywhere in the world.

Interesting concept! This is just one of the many incredible exhibitors to check out at this year's  IDS15!
