7 fast facts about SPECTRE's Aston Martin DB10

By Sonya Davidson

The hype on the latest James Bond film is building up feverishly as the date is set for the North American wide release on November 6, 2015. (Mexico City will host the Premiere of the Americas on Monday, November 2, to coincide with the Day of the Dead festivities across Mexico).

Sam Mendes returns to direct SPECTRE, with Daniel Craig reprising his role as 007 for the fourth time.

In this story line, a cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organization known as SPECTRE.

Here are seven fast facts about SPECTRE's Aston Martin DB10...

1. The SPECTRE Aston Martin car was specifically developed for this film. It is a "bespoke" two-door coupe.

2. The company has revealed that the car will feature their 6-speed manual transmission unit htat is used on their V8-engined car. The car's chassis is based on a modified version of the VH Platform that underpins the V8 Vantage. However the DB10 has a longer wheelbase and is nearly as wide as the One-77. It is also powered by the Vantage's 4.7 L V8 engine. Thank you Wikipedia.

3. There were ten of them made for the movie. Sorry folks, they won't be sold to the public. Because...

4. According to the dailymail online, seven of them were destroyed during filming. Millons and millions gone...don't worry, Bond is okay, of course. But I'm still crying.

5. This is the sixth Aston Martin model featured in a James Bond movie. The first Aston Martin was a DB5 driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger.

6. Spectacular car chase through the streets of Rome between this car and the Jaguar C-X75 is the villian's supercar. Vatican is safe.

7. The car's design was led by Marek Riechman, chief creative officer at Aston Martin, and film director Sam Mendes.
