Napster returns as a re-imagined music subscription service with 35 million songs

Napster, which was once instrumental in ushering the MP3 era, is back as a subscription music service, offering the ability for consumers to personalize and customize playlists to their taste.

Now available in 34 countries including Canada, the company has assembled a collection of more than 35 million songs which include a mix of popular international music and the best local music from top artists Canada has to offer.

Napster is available to Canadians in both official languages, and has the widest array of partners—including iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Web, Sonos and Chromecast, and is supported by several auto manufacturers.

“Napster is bringing a better way to play music to Canada,” said Ethan Rudin, chief financial officer, Napster. “With a deep catalogue of local artists, hand-curated playlists, and the first music experience for kids, Napster is customized specifically for Canadian music fans. It was important to us that we enter Canada with a personalized music experience that has a complete catalogue of local, national and international artists.”
