Dell introduces new laptops and tablets for the classroom

Dell wants to foster a more collaborative learning environment with its new line of laptops and tablets, including a new Chromebook, Latitude laptop, and Venue tablets.

The second-generation Chromebook 11 brings a new anti-glare HD display with optional touchscreen, liquid - resistant keyboard and touchpad, and front-facing HD webcam for collaboration. Dell has also integrated an "activity light" feature that lets teachers monitor student activity and help facilitate activities in the classroom. As a Chromebook, it is also coupled with Google Apps for Education.

Now, if you need something durable and secure, the Dell Latitude 11 is the one for you. It comes with an 11.6-inch touch or non-touch display with Corning Gorilla Glass NBT and full-sized, fully-sealed keyboard. It has been subjected to MIL STD 810G testing for pressure, temperature, shock, and vibration. Dell’s exclusive mobility and managed cart solution lets IT managers push software updates overnight and guarantees that the Latitude 11 Education Series gets updated. Its comprehensive encryption keeps its secure as well.

On the tablet side, Dell is introducing new Android- and Windows-powered slates. The Venue 10 (Android 5.0 Lollipop) and Venue 10 Pro both feature 10.1-inch HD or Full HD displays and can be configured into different positions depending on the student’s needs (clamshell, tent, stand, and slate).The Venue 10 is equipped with Google Play for Education and NFC technology to make it easier for file transfer.

The Chromebook 11’s retail price starts at $289.99 and is already available on Dell.ca. The Latitude Education Series will be available for qualified education customers with the non-touch version available starting March 3 and the touch version coming in late June. The Venue 10 will be available in Spring 2015, while the Venue 10 Pro will be available on Dell.ca starting March 3.
