Dyson entering new product category with innovative Pure Cool air purifier

Last November, Dyson committed $2.6 billion investment into future technology, including a $1.7 billion for the research and development of new product technologies.

Dyson’s added a new product to their current Air Multiplier range in China, toda. The Dyson Pure Cool. The first purifier from Dyson, it removes 99.95 per cent of harmful ultrafine particles from household air.

Demonstrating a continued focus on health and wellness in the home, this new Dyson machine uses a high-efficiency 360° Glass HEPA filter. This is a glass media filter made from constructed borosilicate microfibers. This filter has been pleated 254 times, meaning it can trap minute particles – as small as PM0.1.

While knowledge of Particulate Matter (PM), an air pollution term for a mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets found in the air, is not deeply embedded in Canadians’ minds, it still should be of concern. PM0.1, or ultrafine particles, can travel into the lungs and collect in the smaller branches and gas exchange regions. The problem with some other purifiers is that their filters are made from big, non-woven filaments that leave gaps between fibres allowing ultrafine particles to pass through and distributed back into the room.

Dyson Pure Cool will be available starting April 2015 in Japan and China. Availability in the rest of the world has yet to be announced.
