Twitter lets you get DMs from people you don't follow

Twitter looks to boost its messaging feature by now letting you receive direct messages (DM) from anyone and reply to anyone who DMs you. You will need to opt in though through the settings page of the app. Twitter is letting you know how serious this is by putting the Direct Message button front and center on your contact page on the Android and iOS apps.

Previously, you could only receive messages from your followers and send them to those you follow. We're not sure what flood gates this will open, especially with the amount of harrassment that happens on the app. But this might also be a good way to reach out to people.
