Apple Watch online orders to be available for in store pickup
Apple has updated its US Apple Watch product page which now indicates that online pre-orders can either be shipped to your address or picked up in store on launch day. After the April 10 pre-order date, some Apple Stores will feature try-on sections where customers can check out Watch and see which collections and band suits them best as well as ascertain which of the Watch's two sizes fit them better. Customers have a limited time to try on the product and can then place an order right at the store.
This could mean that customers may not be able to just walk into Apple Retail Stores to try and buy once the Watch is available because stores may be fulfilling pre-orders and allotting inventory to customers who placed earlier orders. There's not indications that the process will be any different in Canada, but we're staying tuned for any news. Apple Watch presents new challenges and opportunities that make it very different from other Apple product launches. As a result, the old tactic of lining up for hours (or days) won't guarantee customers a Watch unless they've pre-ordered ahead of time.
