HotelTonight's Escape feature innovates discovery travel

HotelTonight is the leading app and service for finding and booking places to stay at a short notice. The company just released Escape which they say is, "an innovation is the best new way to discover driving-distance getaways for the weekend ahead or for that very night."
Think a quick departure from Toronto to a quaint hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake  or Vancouver to Whistler for a weekend getaway. It’s combining the amazing offers we know and love from HotelTonight with a curated list of destinations based on your GPS, current events and the season in question.
For example, once winter hits, we’ll start to see ski destinations hit the Escape function.
Included directly within the HotelTonight app, Escape uses the traveler’s location, then scours hotel room rates over the next seven days to surface destinations that are currently offering significant savings and deals. To help encourage travelers, the deals are categorized based on 2 different travel scenarios to make last-minute travel accessible & enticing.

The scenarios include:

Today: Catering to your taste for last-minute travel, Today destinations feature hotel deals in drivable locales. For example, someone in Toronto might see hotel suggestions for a staycation on the waterfront or a quick roadie to Niagara Falls.

This Weekend: That same traveler would see hotel offers in Ottawa (Bluesfest!) or Montreal (Osheaga!) for the upcoming weekend.

HotelTonight has also updated its popular GeoRates feature (formerly ‘Rate Drop’ and ‘Bonus Rate’), which provides unprecedented savings unavailable through any other travel app or website. With it, users benefit from additional discounts of up to 70%  off HotelTonight’s already-discounted rates. Since the feature was launched in January, HotelTonight has seen significant interest from consumers – nearly 25% percent of rooms booked are GeoRate rooms.
