Canadian streaming video app Yeplive aims to improve on the experience offered by competitors

Meerkat and Periscope have been popular video streaming apps but they wiill soon be joined by Canadian made Yeplive which promises a range of features that its competitors still have to offer.

Yeplive has more features that reviewers of both apps have voiced that they want to see,  (see above chart). The biggest featrues are;

  • Sharing to all popular social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and G+ (Periscope and Meerkat are chained to Twitter)
  • Videos are archived in each user's personal profile - so you can keep your moments
  • Yeplive is location centric so you can discover what live events are happening around you, or globally in places you care about

Yeplive is a Canadian app available around the world! Yeplive focuses on events and festivals, and is currently partnered with several prominent entertainment personalities.

The Yeplive team began developing the app long before Periscope, however  they say it has taken a few months longer to launch - Periscope was granted a 100 million buyout by Twitter that enabled them to move at an accelerated pace.

It's quite early in the live streaming race and there's an opportunity for another noncombatant with a more advanced app to enter the space, because market penetration rates are still very low, but are rapidly growing. Meerkat and Periscope were red hot at the time they were introduced, specially once they were made available in both iOS and Android platforms. Interest in these platfroms seems to have cooled.

“Live video streaming apps have become one of the largest tech trends in 2015 but many people aren’t sure how to cut through all the clutter,” says Elizabeth Stavros, COO of Yeplive. “We developed a platform that beams users into someone else’s experience, while allowing them to archive and share live video with anyone around the world, on their platform of choice, in their preferred format, and on any social network.”

Are there any age/content restrictions?

The platform is open to individuals age 13 and over. A built-in reporting function allows users to report inappropriate behaviour - nudity, profanity, harassment, abuse - with the tap of the app, leading to the automatic removal and investigation of the video and user.

System requirements to run the apps

OS - 7.0 and up

Android 4.1 and up

Is there a web component or way to view videos without a mobile device?

Yeplive is the only live streaming app with a fully-integrated web platform.

Who is the intended user of Yeplive?

Yeplive is intended for anyone interested in entertainment, live, events and noteworthy happenings taking place locally and globally. Who wouldn't want to know what's happening inside a club, venue, or event while waiting in line or before making a decision to join in? Users can even discover trending events all around the world. The app is also geared toward, activists who want to showcase their cause in real time to maximize impact, as well as brands and businesses for which location matters.
