Epson’s new EcoTank printers can last for up to two years without refills

ET-4550

If you find refilling inks on your printers troublesome and a bit expensive, Epson is introducing a new line of printers designed with large ink reservoirs. How large? It’s touted to last you up to two years without having to refill. The EcoTank line introduces five new all-in-one colour printers for both the office and the home. Its tank is equivalent to having about 20 sets of ink cartridges, depending on the model you purchase. Replacement inks can go as low as $15.49 per bottle or $62 per set of bottles. As part of the company’s Supertank category, these combine MicroPiezo technology and large ink reservoirs. Some of the models come with two-year limited warranty with registration and built-in Wi-Fi capability.

For work

For small businesses, Epson offers the WorkForce Pro WF-R4640. It can print up to 20,000 black and 20,000 coloured pages with print speeds up to 20 ISO pages per minute for black or coloured. It has a 580-sheet capacity, auto 2-sided printing, copying, scanning, and faxing. This retails for $1,399.

For home offices, Epson has two models: the ET-4550 and ET-4500. The ET-4550 is capable of printing up to 11,000 black and 8,500 coloured pages with 13 ISO ppm for black and 7.3 ISO ppm for colour. It supports auto 2-sided printing and has a 30-page Auto Document Feeder and 150-sheet paper capacity. Meanwhile, the ET-4500 can handle up to 4,000 back pages and 6,500 coloured pages. It has prints speeds of 9.2 ISO ppm for black and 4.5 ISO ppm for coloured. It has a 30-page Auto Document Feeder as well and a 100-sheet paper capacity. This model comes with Wi-Fi Direct support. The ET-4550 retails for $599, while the ET4500 goes for $529.

For personal use

If you need it for your personal use, Epson offers the ET-2550 and the ET-2500. The ET-2550 can handle up to 4,000 and 6,500 colour pages. It has print speeds of up to 9.2 ISO ppm for black and 4.5 ISO ppm for colour. It offers PC-free photo printing via a built-in memory card slot and has a 100-sheet paper capacity. It also comes with built-in Wi-Fi Direct. Now, the ET-2500 can also handle the same number of pages and it has the same print speeds and sheet paper capacity. This doesn’t have Wi-Fi access though. The ET-2550 goes for $479, while the ET-2500 retails for $459.

These printer models will be available starting September 2015 through Staples, Best Buy and Epson’s site
