Apple: iOS 9 already on 50 per cent of mobile devices

Despite some very early difficulties in enabling the Software Update, Apple's latest iOS 9 operating sytems seems to be enjoying healthy adoption with over 50 per cent of compatible devices already running the latest, greatest that iOS has to offer.

“iOS 9 is also off to an amazing start, on pace to be downloaded by more users than any other software release in Apple’s history," confirmed Apple SVP for Marketing Phil Schiller. iOS 9, which can be installed via iTunes or through WiFi via an over-the-air installation, was made available on September 16 and has a much smaller file size requirement than previous versions.

While it brings various enhancements and brings more intelligence to iPhone with proactive assistance, powerful search and improved Siri features, all while protecting users’ privacy. Built-in apps on iOS include a redesigned Notes app, detailed transit information in Maps, and an all-new News app for the best news reading experience on any mobile device. The foundation of iOS is even stronger with software updates that require less space to install and advanced security features to further protect your devices.

Where I have found iOS 9 to really shine is on the iPad Air 2 which has the required system specs to power multitasking, split-screen features for using two apps at the same time and even picture-in-picture features that allow for a video to play over another screen. iOS 9 on iPad Air 2 (and soon on iPad Pro), transform the mobile OS into a viable enterprise and content creation tool.
