Sweden's Symetium pursues the dream of the smartphone PC

Ubuntu's tried to do it, Microsoft with Windows 10 on phones and Continuum is trying to do it. Using a smartphone in dual-mode as a desktop PC is one of the great aspirations of our time and while our smartphones are effectively supercomputers in our pockets, there hasn't really been a smart and elegant solution into making them capable enough to also run desktop apps.

Symetium from Sweden's starting a crowdfunding campaign for a USB Type-C Android device running the Marshmallow OS which can be used as a desktop. Since we know that Android doesn't really lend itself well to desktop applications and experiences (that's what ChromeOS is for), it isn't clear how well this 'smartphone PC' can replace a desktop, but it should at least make it easier to type documents, watch YouTube videos and play some games on a bigger screen.
