Superfans awaken early for their #ForceFriday haul

By Sonya Davidson

Yesterday, the global live toy unboxing event for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was unleashed by Disney just a few months ahead of the highly anticipated film release. The event unfolded over 18 hours in 15 cities and 12 countries revealing the epic line up of never-before-seen toys causing fans to explode with excitement.

The roll-out announcements were viewed via live stream on the Star Wars YouTube channel and featured online personalities including Einshine (Tokyo), Reyst (Berlin), GamingBeaver (London), EvanTubeHD (New York), Quill18 (Toronto), ExpCaseros (Mexico City), and many more. Chris Pirillo finished off the announcements in San Francisco.

Toys included many hits including Sphero's unveiling of BB-8 that created the same reactions as seeing cute kittens. In Toronto, the event was hosted by YouTuber Corey Vidal who unveiled of AirHogs/SpinMaster's Millenium Falcon Drone and remote controlled Poe's X Wing Fighter -- both having adults and kids reacting with "I want one!"

Well,  it was also announced that Star Wars fans didn't have to wait until the holiday shopping season to get their hands on their coveted new toys as part of the global event, many retailers like ToysRUs, Target, select Disney Stores and many others announced that doors would be open at midnight on Force Friday (September 4) causing another burst of  "now I really, really want that!"

So, did the fans hit awaken early to get their haul? Here are some tweets that shows that Force Friday is well under way...
