NAIAS 2016: GMC launches 2017 Acadia crossover focusing on safety
By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla
Detroit, MI- GMC took the wraps off its redesigned line of Acadai crossover vehicles designed for the needs of families and which now boast more safety features and a sportier profile while reducing up to 700 pounds of weight and improved mileage.
In tune with GM's push for improved technology across all their car brands, the GMC Acadia features the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
More notable additions in the 2017 Acadia are the safety features including Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert/Lane Change Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Front Pedestrian Braking, Surround Vision Camera and a new Rear Seat Reminder feature which, once one of the rear doors is opened, ensures drivers check the rear seat before leaving the vehicle. This was created to reduce the chance of leaving young children in the rear seat by mistake, which has proven to be fatal in hot weather conditions.
In addition to GMC's IntelliLink connectivity system, Acadia offers compatibility with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi service.
Available engines include a standard 2.5-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder that achieves an estimated 28 miles per gallon on the highway for front-wheel drive
