Asthma inhaler prototype can easily slip into your wallet
If the Bloom Inhaler gets approval, this new inhaler design will make it easy for you to slip it into your wallet or back pocket. At just 54mm across, 85mm long, and 4.3mm thick, it’s roughly the thickness of five ordinary credit cards. It can hold six puffs of aerosol asthma medication. You can insert the canister of a regular inhaler into the Bloom’s matching port. You depress it six times to load the six doses into the slim inhaler. A hermetic seal stops the medication from leaking out. It works HFA inhalers and has been tested extensively.
To use the Bloom, you make use of the “Open Mouth Technique,” which is rather similar to breath spray. You press and then inhale through the opening like you would your current inhaler. They’re currently waiting for FDA approval, which is expected to come in November. The price for the Bloom Inhaler is US$40 or about $54.
