Beauty takes Uber approach with beGlammed App

A new app, beGlammed, has launched in Toronto that offers beauty services on demand. Think Uber but for hair and make up where users of the app can call upon stylists to visit their home or workplace at a tap of screen on their smart devices. 

Who would use this type of service? Those who are time-crunched and need to get to events but can't get to a salon for sure (I fall into that category often). But also those who much more organized or planning out weddings, proms and other special occasions.

The app also helps those in the industry. "There's an incredible talent pool of make up artists and stylists in this city," said Natasha Koifman, President of NKPR. "This is a great way to mobilize these people and get them to those who need them whenever they are needed." 

Natasha tells me that she had tried out the service in New York and was really impressed with the service and professionalism. 

Stylists and make up artists are interviewed and screened by the company. Then, there are three tiers of service: Pretty, Beautiful and Glamorous with corresponding levels of cost. Stylists are categorized based on level of experience as well.

But what I like about the app is the variety of styles shown in a "stylebook" with images shown so you can just quickly reference what you want. The app also gives users an idea of how much time it would take to create a look. I'll be testing this out as soon as I have can sort out my schedule and have somewhere to go! Maybe an idea for Mother's Day treat! Hmmmm? 

The app is already popular with celebrities including Mariah Carey, Paris and Nicky Hilton, Cheryl Burke, Joe Jonas and many more. 

beGlammed is already available in many U.S. cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, New York City, San Francisco and others.
