Rolls-Royce Wraith gets a bespoke luxury yacht feel

It’s almost automatic to associate Rolls-Royce with the word bespoke. So, what new highly customized vehicle is coming out? A new nautical-inspired version of the Wraith made by a former Disney Imagineer. Eddie Sotto, the founder and chief designer of Sotto Studios/LA. Sotto, has conceptualized a new look for the Wraith that would cost around US$1 million. Sotto previously designed the US$83-million Skyacht One designer jet, which is a customized Embraer Lineage 1000E. That was inspired by the fictional antihero Captain Nemo’s submarine, the Nautilus—so, we know he likes the theme.

This Regatta version of the Wraith is created as a mate of sorts of the Skyacht. BBC calls Sotto a design purist and he takes inspiration from classic wooden motor yachts such as the Chris-Craft Riviera. And so the Regatta gets a stem-to-stern treatment with its hood, roof, and rear wrapped in mahogany planking that’s outlined by satin-finish aluminum. For customers who don’t like Mahogany, Sotto says they can specify a different wood-paint combination.

Inside, the Regatta shows of marquetry and intarsia that’s reminiscent of classic Italian studiolos, nautical-brass inlays, brass-trimmed vents, bejeweled controls, and engraving on the wooden dashboard and door panels.

The Wraith usual starts its retail price at around US$300,000 but with this bespoke version that’ll be transformed by the California-based design and fabrication company Aria Group, it’ll cost over US$1 million, as previously mentioned.
