Xiaomi's Hugo Barra will now spearhead Oculus VR

Former Googler and Xiaomi executive Hugo Barra exited the Chinese company recently stating that life in China, 'had taken a huge toll on my life.' Citing that he misses Silicon Valley, Barra said he'd take an advisory role at Xiaomi. Now we find out, via Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, that Barra will head Facebook's VR initiatives and is being tasked to take Oculus VR into the mainstream. Zuckerberg made the announcement showing his and Barra's avatars hanging out together in VR space.

"It's been a dream of mine to work in virtual reality even back when AR/VR were just figments of science fiction; now we're taking selfies in virtual worlds," Barra explained stated his plan is to take the technology mainstream.
