Dell gets flexible with new laptops for schools
Hoping to improve the quality of teaching in schools, Dell EMC, the infrastructure solutions business of Dell Technologies, has a new suite of convertible laptops and interactive touch monitors. The purpose-built laptops are designed to withstand the hustle and bustle of a classroom with MIL-STD 810G specs. Without delaying this any further, here are the new machines:
Latitude 11 Convertible and Chromebook 11 Convertible (3189)
These two 11-inch 2-in-1 laptops promise 360-degree flexibility with its clamshell, tablet, and tent modes. To handle a bit of abuse, it comes with Corning Concore Glass and Gorilla Glass NBT. The Latitude 11 runs on either 7th-gen Intel Celeron or Pentium processors, while the Chromebook 11 runs on a 6th-gen Intel Celeron processor. The Windows-based Latitude 11 has support for the Dell Productivity Active Pen (PN557W) for students who want to use a stylus to write down their notes. The Latitude 11 Convertible and Chromebook 11 Convertible (3189) will be available beginning Feb. 16 on Dell.ca in Canada. The Latitude 11 Convertible will be priced starting at $759 and the Chromebook 11 Convertible will start at $459.
Latitude 11 and Chromebook 11 (3180)
The more budget-friendly Latitude 11 and Chromebook 11 (3180) offers the flexibility students and teachers need in the classroom. Dell promises an ergonomically-designed keyboard that is fully sealed to guard against spills and an all-day battery life. It has a 180-degree lay-flat, durable hinge to make collaboration an easier affair in the classroom. The Latitude 11 and Chromebook 11 (3180) also run on the same processors as the Latitude 11 Convertible and Chromebook 11 Convertible (3189). Available on the same date as the aforementioned laptops, the Latitude 11 will be priced starting at $459 and the Chromebook 11 will start at $289.
Latitude 13 and Chromebook 13 (3380)
If bigger, powerful machines are needed in the classroom, these two Dell laptops are good contenders. The Latitude 13 and Chromebook 13 (3380) are designed to support advanced curriculums and the latest STEM applications. All-day battery life is still promised here, though. The Windows version even has an optional E-Rate mobile broadband, which gives educational institutions the ability to have access to connected learning at a discounted rate when Wi-Fi isn’t available. The Latitude 13 is available with 6th- and 7th-gen Intel Celeron, Pentium, and up to Core i5 processors, while the Chromebook 13 is available with 6th-gen Intel Celeron or Core i3 processors. The Latitude 13 will be priced starting at $679 and the Chromebook 13 will start at $399. Both will also be available starting February 16.
