CES 2017: Introducing Lenovo’s Microsoft Surface competitor
Lenovo has its own take to the hybrid laptop and tablet in the Miix 720. Appealing to the younger, mobile crowd, this 2-in-1 comes equipped with 12-inch QHD+ touchscreen display (2,880 x 1,920 resolution), up to 7th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to Windows 10 Pro, up to 16GB DDR4 memory, and up to 1TB PCIe SSD. It also has a Thunderbolt 3 port for faster data transfer and Windows Hello support.
You can use this device as a standalone tablet or attach the full-size backlit keyboard for easier typing. Adding to that, Lenovo has also created a new Active Pen 2 stylus that uses Windows Ink. It has 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. Battery life is promised to last for up to eight hours at a time. The device itself has an always-on USB port to let you charge other devices with the Miix 720 even if it’s powered off.
The Miix 720 bundled with the keyboard starts at US$999.99 (approx. CA$1,320) and comes in Champagne Gold and Iron Gray. The Active Pen 2 is sold separately with a price that starts at $59.99 (approx.CA$80). The Miix 720 will be available in the US starting April, while the Active Pen 2 will be available by next month.
