Google helps you backup photos even in areas with spotty data connection

Google is taking into account countries and areas where cellular connection can be intermittent. At its Google for Brazil event, the company announced a new backup option on Google Photos. Aside from holding off all backups until you can get on a Wi-Fi connection, backing up photos on cellular data and Wi-Fi for videos, or backing everything up on whatever connection you’re on, Google can now upload low-quality images on data and will replace these with higher-resolution copies once on Wi-Fi.

According to Google, these low-res images will still look good when viewed on a smartphone-sized screen and can be uploaded quickly even on a 2G connection. The feature is coming to both Android and iOS versions of Google Photos.
