WordPress launches its new media picker for Android
There are dozens of online publishing software and content management systems (CMS) available online, but currently, Wordpress holds the title of the most popular self-hosting service for both amateur and professional users. The platform powers over 26% of all web traffic, more than other popular CMS services combined. More than 500 new websites and over an average of 1,800,000 posts are created through Wordpress each day.
While Wordpress is without a doubt one of the most popular self-hosting services available today, many organizations opt to use managed Wordpress hosting instead for enhanced control. Either offers many advantages in terms of extended functionality and being SEO-friendly, but unfortunately even the most popular CMS systems experience problems. In May 2017 the company announced its 4.7.3 security update, which fixed a number of cross-site scripting errors and other bugs in addition to introducing updated user features. In addition to improved comment tracking, the new Android Media Picker tool streamlines user experience and makes it easy to upload, store, and organize photos.
Updates and Improvements
Wordpress Media Picker makes the website’s software more accessible to Android users, allowing them to manage media from their phone or mobile device without trouble. The notorious “seven-item menu,” renowned for having a less than friendly user interface, had been replaced by a sleek and simple tool that cuts out unnecessary menu items. Media Picker gives Android users instant access to their phone’s camera and their media library with a drop-down menu, helping website and blog owners to add new photos quickly.
Although not strictly part of the Media Picker launch, the 4.7.3 Wordpress upgrade also introduced the ability to upload previously unsupported image types such as TIFF files into media libraries. Now, users can easily convert almost any file type to a supported format before uploading, all from the Wordpress mobile app for Android.
Top Features
Adding pictures and images to a website helps to engage fans, followers, and potential customers for online businesses. Media Picker is expected to revolutionize the way that Android users interact with the Wordpress app, allowing them to manage media files with ease. Wordpress offers several new features through its Media Picker tool:
● View recent photos right below posts
● Select single pictures or multiple photos at a time
● Navigate through the media library
● Zoom in on thumbnail images
● Take a picture without leaving the Wordpress app
With Media Picker, Android users can enjoy a user-friendly interface that allows them to upload, organize, and post images whenever and wherever they want by using a mobile device. As Wordpress gains popularity, users can expect to see more upgrades to the service.
