Samsung outs 30TB SSD with twice the speed of its predecessor

Samsung leads once again in the storage market with its newest SSD. Doubling the amount of its last release two years ago, Samsung unveiled the PM1643, which is a 30.72TB drive ready for any enterprise storage needs. These have been created with 521Gb 3D vertical NAND chips, which are half the size of the newest 1Tb ones that were announced late last year. Aside from double the capacity, performance has doubled, too, with sequential read/write speeds at 2,100MB/s and 1,700 MB/s.

Since Samsung is able to mass produce at this size, we can expect this to come in smaller capacities housing half the data of the previous ones (15.36TB, 7.68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, 960GB, and 800GB). No word on pricing or availability yet but we’re sure it’s going to cost a pretty penny.
