Staples Canada and Earth Day Canada team up to promote earth-friendly innovation in schools
Staples Canada and Earth Day Canada have teamed up again for the Superpower your School contest to provide students with the opportunity to learn, discover and enhance their education through leading-edge technology.
100 publicly-funded schools from across the country run the chance to win one of the ten shopping sprees of $20,000 worth of new technology. Hit jump for the details.
Among the top 100 finalists are 20 schools from Western Canada, who are being recognized for their contributions to the environment, including Dr. J.K. Mulloy School, St. Joseph School, Central Memorial and the Career and Technology Centre, and Blackie School from your community.
Projects that helped winning schools stand out:
- Restoring a native plant garden
- Reducing paper usage through online learning platforms and applications
- Battery/cell phone recycling program, "Zinc Saves Lives" to provide children with zinc tablets
- "Bring Your Own Cup" initiative to reduce the number of plastic bottles used
