YouTube starts rolling out feature to remind you to take a break from watching videos
While Google released lots of new exciting things at its I/O 2018 developers’ conference, one of the big things the tech giant talked about is improving the “digital wellbeing” of its users. One of the solutions, Google introduced is being able to schedule breaks or at least be reminded to take breaks when watching YouTube videos. This feature has started to roll out to users and if you’re YouTube app updated recently, you would’ve gotten access to this. You can enable the reminder by heading over to the General menu section and from there you should see the new Remind me to take a break option. Once you select on this, you should see options ranging from Never to Every 180 minutes.
Once enabled, you’ll get reminders to take time off during the time you set it to remind you. You can opt to ignore the reminder and continue watching. But that will, of course, defeat its purpose. Two other features are also coming to the service including being able to display notification sounds and vibrations from the YouTube app for a set amount of time and being able to get all of your notifications once a day at a specific time.
