Microsoft teases the Xbox Series X gaming console

The Xbox Series X is coming in late 2020. Microsoft teased the next-generation console at the 2019 Game Awards. The company calls it Microsoft's "fastest, most powerful console ever."

Looking like a small PC tower, the Xbox Series X can be placed vertically or horizontally. And it has four times the processing power of the Xbox One, while still being as quiet as its predecessor.

The Microsoft Xbox Series X has a custom-designed AMD processor with support for ray tracing, 8K gaming, 4K at 60fps, and can go up to 120fps in games. Microsoft promises the SSD in this console "will virtually eliminate load times and bring players into their gaming worlds faster than ever before."

The new console gets a new controller, too. It has a new share button to make it easier to capture screenshots and shoot game clips. The accessory also has an "advanced" d-pad Microsoft borrowed from the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller. It will be compatible with the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.

Microsoft hasn't released pricing for the Xbox Series X yet.
