Apple holds first Apple Music Awards on December 4, Billie Eilish to perform live
Apple is hosting its first-ever Apple Music Awards, which the company said is a "celebration of the best and boldest musicians of 2019 and the enormous impact they have had on global culture this year." The inaugural ceremony will take place today, December 4, at 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET in the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple's Cupertino headquarters in California. You can live stream the show through Apple's website. Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Billie Eilish will perform at the ceremony.
Eilish gets top honours at the Apple Music Awards as she gets recognized in three out of the five categories:
- Global Artist of the Year — Billie Eilish ("When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?")
- Songwriter of the Year — Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell
- Breakthrough Artist of the Year — Lizzo ("Cuz I Love You")
- Album of the Year — "When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" by Billie Eilish
- Song of the Year — "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X
Apple Music's global editorial team chose the winners for the first three categories, while the winners for Album and Song of the Year were based on data from the streaming service.
