MWC 2019: Wear that foldable display on your wrist with Nubia Alpha

Foldable phones not your thing? Well, what about wrapping that display around your wrist. Nubia, an associate company of Chinese phone-maker ZTE, showed off a smartphone-smartwatch hybrid at MWC. The Nubia Alpha has a 4.01-inch flexible OLED display that you can navigate through with the swipe of your finger—or you can even use gesture controls to navigate if you want.
It's a water-resistant wearable that comes in gold or black, depending on how showy you want to be. It is available in Bluetooth or eSIM variants. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 processor with a 500mAh battery. You get an abundance of sleep-tracking and health-assistant apps as well as a music player and a 5-megapixel camera. It also has Wi-Fi.
The eSIM version will let you place calls. You can dial through the numeric keypad. Now, if you want to type, unfortunately, you're stuck with a T9 keyboard. But as CNET points out, this does have voice controls.
The cheapest Bluetooth-only Alpha costs €450 (around CA$670), the 4G eSIM model is €550 (around CA$820), and the 18K gold eSIM version is €650 (around CA$970). It's coming first to China and parts of Europe, but it will come to North America before the end of the year.
