Apple introduces new iPad Air and iPad mini
Apple has two new iPads for users to choose from: a 10.5-inch iPad Air and 7.9-inch iPad mini. The two tablets share a lot of specs and features, but there are some core differences that might sway you from buying one over the other. The Air has a Retina display with a 2,224 x 1,668 resolution, while the mini has a resolution of 2,048 x 1536. If you want to use these tablets with Apple's smart keyboard, only the iPad Air supports this.
What the iPad Air and mini share though include Apple Pencil support (the first-gen version and not the one with wireless charging); 64GB/256G storage options; colour choices of silver, space gray, or gold; and the A12 Bionic chipset, which debuted on the iPhone XS line. Both tablets also have the same camera setup (8-megapixel rear shooter with an f/2.4 aperture and 7-megapixel front shooter).
Battery life for the Air and mini are rated at up to 10 hours of "surfing the web on Wi‑Fi, watching video, or listening to music." Both come with Touch ID fingerprint sensors and no Face ID support, a headphone jack, and Lightning cable connector for charging and data transfer.
The new iPad mini starts at CA$529 for the Wi-Fi model and $699 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, while the 10.5-inch iPad Air starts at $649 for the Wi-Fi model and $819 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model from Apple.com, in the Apple Store app and Apple Stores, and is also available through Apple Authorized Resellers and select carriers (prices may vary).
