Netflix teases its take on ‘The Witcher’
We’ve known for a while that Henry Cavill will be taking on the role of Geralt in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of The Witcher. Now, we get to see him in action. The trailer shows us that The Witcher is ready to fill take up the space fantasy series Game of Thrones has left behind with black magic, monsters, evil forces, and political turmoil. It looks to be just as graphic as GoT. Cavill plays Geralt of Rivia, the series’ central character and he stars alongside Freya Allan, who plays Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Anna Shaffer as Triss.
The show is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, which has also produced the popular role-playing games from CD Projekt Red. The Witcher series is being overseen by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who is best known for her work on The Umbrella Academy and The Defenders. We don’t know much about what the first season will be like, but she has told Entertainment Weekly that it won’t be an adaptation of the video games.
