Huawei will launch the Mate 30 series on September 19th
We get the official word now. Huawei's next flagship series is going to launch on September 19th. And the biggest question hanging over it is what operating system the Mate 30 series will run. The company teased the upcoming event with a short video on Twitter. It'll be launched in Munich, Germany, with the tagline "Rethink Possibilities." The company certainly has to rethink possibilities because it's still banned from doing businesses with US companies—including its software provider Google. We wait to see how Huawei will respond to this considerable limitation.
Huawei has begun working on a Play Store alternative and launched its OS called HarmonyOS. But the company continues to downplay the OS as a potential Android alternative. Another thing Huawei is said to be working on a mapping service API for third-party developers. For now, the Mate 30 series is seen to be running on open-source Android. On the processor side, the phone is expected to run on the upcoming Kirin 990 processor, which Huawei will launch at IFA this week in Berlin. Unverified leaks also claim that the phone will feature a large circular quad-camera setup and a "waterfall" display with extremely curved edges.
Did you get it right? The countdown to #HuaweiMate30 starts now!
