Next Samsung Galaxy Buds might look like beans

Yay or nay for the new Samsung Galaxy Buds design? (Render: WinFuture)

Samsung might be taking an unusual route for the design of the next Galaxy Buds wireless earphones. As shared by WinFuture's Roland Quandt, the new look fits its "bean" codename. Quandt claims Samsung is studying the idea of having these wireless earbuds sport a kidney bean-like shape. It's still in the evaluation phase, so this might not be the final design. It's certainly pushing the look into more hearing aid territory.

The renders we've seen so far show a more compact design, with the rubber tips visible on the Galaxy Buds+ already gone. According to Quandt, the Beans are 2.8cm long, with the lower part of the bean resting in the ear canal and the upper part filling the earcup.

SM-R180 will reportedly have two small speakers, one for highs and mids and another for lows. It'll also come with several built-in microphones, which will be used for calls and transmission of external noise. But what could reduce the effectivity of its noise cancellation will be the lack of silicon tips to seal the ear canal. These beans are expected to have a sensor to detect if the earbuds are in the ear or not.

There are no details on battery size now. Quandt notes this is due to the audio accessory being in the early stages of testing at the moment. Samsung might decide to take a different route here or even scrap the entire thing. But if it does launch, we might see it as early as the expected launch of the Galaxy Note 20 in the summer. What do you think? Would this design change be something you can get behind?
