LG Tone Free with UVnano charging case is now available in Canada

LG introduces its first true wireless earbuds in Canada. The LG Tone Free is available in two models—HBS-FN4 and HBS-FN6—with the former retailing for $149.99, while the FN6 goes for $199.99. Both are available at Best Buy, Amazon, and select mobile carriers.

The flagship HBS-FN6 earbuds come with what LG claims to be industry-first: a UVnano charging case. In the age of COVID-19, where personal hygiene is paramount, the case promises to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria on the part of the earbud closest to the inner with just a 10-minute charge.

The tech on the charging case is based on a new ultraviolet-light test protocol developed by microbiology experts at UL. They claim the UV light reduces the bacteria on the earbuds' speaker mesh by 99.9% during the powered charging cycle.

The case also provides up to 18 hours of playtime and promises an hour of music with just five minutes of charging.

LG developed the Tone Free with Meridian technology for the best sound quality. You can expect an extra dimension of sound with Headphone Spatial Processing, powered by Digital Signal Processing. DSP recreates a realistic soundstage to simulate listening to real loudspeakers and promises to deliver vocals with pristine clarity.

Meridian also offers four sound settings to suit what you're listening to, including Natural for authentic and balanced sound, Immersive for an expanded sense of space, Bass Boost for that extra punch, and Treble Boost for greater vocal performance clarity.

These earbuds come with intuitive touch controls to let you play, pause, skip, and control volume level without reaching for your phone.

And as much as the Tone Free is designed to keep external noise out, these earbuds offer an Ambient Sound Mode so you can hear what's going on around you without taking out the buds.

If you worry about losing the earbuds, the LG Tone & Talk app can help locate the missing earbuds. If there is a Bluetooth connection, the LG Tone Free will begin to beep. If there isn't one, the app will show you the last known location on a map. How useful that would indoors remain to be seen. The app is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Both Tone Free models are rated IPX4 for protection against splashing water, rain, and sweat. And they also feature Voice Command with Google Assistant or Siri.
