Belkin recalls Portable Wireless Charger + Stand Special Edition over fire, shock risks

Source: Belkin

If you own Belkin's Portable Wireless Charger + Stand Special Edition charger, you should stop using it. The company issued a voluntary recall for this charging stand because of a manufacturing issue in its power supply. The problem can cause the charger to overheat and malfunction, which could pose fire and shock risks. There haven't been any injury or property damage reported yet, and Belkin wants to keep it that way by offering a full refund.

The product has a model code WIZ003, and it works with iPhone 8 and later models. Apple even sold this accessory in its stores. It features a 10,000mAh power capacity and can wirelessly charge Qi-compatible phones while docked.

These are the serial numbers of the affected products:

  • 35B01DO6029400-35B01DO6033704
  • 35B01DO5010350-35B01DO5014350
  • 35B01DO6016560-35B01DO6020560
  • 35B01DO5014500-35B01DO5020003
  • 35B01DO6010001-35B01DO6010500
  • 35B01DO6010501-35B01DO6015500

You can cross-reference it with your unit by checking the back of the battery pack. And if your gadget is affected, you can submit a full refund request through the company's site.
