Clubhouse will allow you to pin external links at the top of rooms

Clubhouse will soon let you share outside links, and monetization is coming to the platform, too. Clubhouse CEO Paul Davison and Global Head of Marketing Maya Watson shared that it will bring pinned links to the social audio app at The Verge's On The Verge event.

The feature will let moderators place the external links at the top of a room to promote things like a Patreon page, podcast, or news article. It doesn't matter how many followers a moderator has; they can change or remove links when they want.

Certain links won't be allowed for security and moderation reasons. Davinson didn't name the kinds of links that wouldn't be allowed, but he suggested OnlyFans wouldn't be accepted because porn links are banned. The feature is rolling out on October 27 on iOS and Android.

Clubhouse won't take a cut of revenue from any transactions that occur in the link. But Clubhouse plans to announce updates in the coming months about ways you can monetize within the app, like ticketed rooms and subscriptions.
