The latest report about Apple's long-rumoured mixed reality headset suggests it can work independently without being linked to an iPhone or Mac device. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the headset will need two processors to make this happen. The main chip will have the same computing power as the M1 processor, while a second one will handle all the computing related to the sensors.

According to Kuo, the device will offer both augmented and virtual reality experiences with the help of its 4K Micro OLED displays from Sony. The primary processor supports these displays, while the other processor is needed to support the computing needs of the sensor, which Kuo says is "significantly higher than that of the iPhone."

Kuo claims the device will make its debut in late 2022, and Apple plans to offer a "comprehensive range of applications," with the ultimate goal of replacing the iPhone in 10 years.
