Nintendo rolls out 'Animal Crossing: New Horizons' update ahead of schedule

During October's Nintendo Direct presentation, the company announced its last free major content update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons was coming on November 5. But it looks like the update went live slightly earlier. It is now live, and you can download it to your Switch. 

The New Horizons version 2 brings new features to the game, including old Animal Crossing characters like Brewster and Kapp'n. If you want to shop from new stores owned by familiar characters, you can head to Harv's Island.

The update also adds gyroid hunting and cooking activities. The latter lets you combine anything you harvest and other ingredients to make new dishes. There are also quality-of-life upgrades, like establishing ordinances. You can make the residents get up at the time of day you're active in the game. You can also keep more items with bigger home storage and storage sheds you can place on your island.

A new DLC, Happy Home Paradise, is coming on November 5 for US$25 (around CA$31 converted). That paid content lets you design vacation homes for your characters.
