Google updates YouTube app on iOS, its first update release since December
People have been speculating that Google hasn't updated its major apps on iOS to avoid Apple's new privacy labels, which was a requirement for updating iOS apps. But the company has just rolled out a bug fix for its YouTube app, which marks its first update since December. The company has also explicitly denied these rumours.
In a January 12 blog post, the company talked about adding labels when updates are available. Google said, "As Google's iOS apps are updated with new features or to fix bugs, you'll see updates to our app page listings that include the new App Privacy Details. These labels represent the maximum categories of data that could be collected—meaning if you use every available feature and service in the app. The data you provide to Google products delivers helpful services to you, and you can always control your privacy settings by visiting your Google Account or going directly to the Google products you use on iOS."
Some of Google's less known apps—like Stadia, Authenticator, Translate, and Classroom—have already received iOS updates.
