Samsung debuts new Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A72

Samsung expands its midrange line with three new devices: the Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A72. These new phones check off some key specs young smartphone users expect from their devices: fast displays, enticing camera features, 5G option, big battery, and decent performance.

All three have Super AMOLED Infinity-O displays. The 6.5-inch Galaxy A52 and the 6.7-inch Galaxy A72 come with a 90Hz refresh rate, while the 5G variant of the Galaxy A52 gets a speedier 120Hz refresh rate.

These phones get a quad-camera setup at the back, including a 64-megapixel primary lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 5-megapixel macro camera. The Galaxy A52 and A52 5G have a 5-megapixel depth camera, while the Galaxy A72 has an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. In front, there's a 32-megapixel camera

Samsung arms these phones with optical image stabilization, and you get access to features like 4K video snap, AR Emoji, filters, Scene Optimizer, Pro video mode, and more.

A new camera feature will appeal to those who love augmented reality filters. Samsung partnered with Snapchat to include AR lenses into the built-in Camera app. This new Fun Mode will launch with the Galaxy A72 and A52, while the A52 5G will get it through a software update later.

The three devices run on One UI 3.0, which is based on Android 11, and they're protected by Samsung Knox. The company promises four years of security updates after their release, which should increase their viability.

The Galaxy A52 and A72 run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, while a Snapdragon 750G chipset powers the A52 5G. The Galaxy A52's RAM starts at 4GB, while the A52 5G and A72 start at 6GB. All the phones max out at 8GB of RAM. Storage options are 128GB or 256GB. You can expand that up to 1TB via microSD.

The Galaxy A52 and A52 5G come equipped with a 4,500mAh battery, while the Galaxy A72 gets a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery.

All three phones are available in four colours: Awesome Blue, Awesome White, Awesome Violet, and Awesome Black.
