OnePlus debuts first smartwatch

Source: OnePlus

The aptly named OnePlus Watch is now an actual product you can buy. The 46mm smartwatch features two buttons on one side and comes with a watch strap you can swap with standard-sized third-party straps.

It has a stainless steel body with a 1.39-inch OLED panel and offers 5ATM + IP68 water- and dust-resistance. It comes in two colours: Moonlight Silver and Midnight Black. Specs-wise, you get 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and integrated speakers. When it comes to connectivity, there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, but no cellular option.

While it was initially speculated to run on Wear OS, the OnePlus Watch uses an RTOS-style operating system. It will have a companion app you can connect the watch, too. At launch, it's available on Android but will come to iOS at a later date.

The downside to a customized, in-house operating system is this wearable doesn't have third-party app support yet.

But it does what you'd expect a smartwatch to do, including monitoring your sleep, heart rate, stress levels, and blood oxygen levels. It can keep track of 110 workout modes and be loaded with up to 500 songs.

One of its more remarkable features is that it supports OnePlus' Warp Charge system, which promises to give you one-week battery life on a 20-minute charge.

The OnePlus Watch will only be available in Midnight Black here for $219. It will go on sale on OnePlus's site starting April 14.

If you want something more unique, a Cobalt Limited Edition option is coming out in the future. Made out of cobalt alloy, it's said to feature a body twice as hard as stainless steel. It gets a leather strap to complete its premium look.
